Payroll Clerk

Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and energetic Payroll Clerk to join our dynamic finance team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of employee payroll, managing payroll data entry, and maintaining compliance with company policies and regulatory standards. Your expertise in payroll management systems and accounting software will help streamline payroll operations and support our organizational goals. Duties

  • Enter and verify payroll data with precision, including hours worked, benefits deductions, tax information, and other relevant details
  • Reconcile payroll accounts through general ledger accounting practices and perform account reconciliations regularly
  • Maintain employee records related to benefits administration, tax withholding, and other payroll-related information
  • Prepare journal entries for payroll transactions and assist with month-end closing processes involving the general ledger
  • Support accounts payable and receivable functions related to payroll expenses and vendor payments
  • Assist in audits by providing detailed reports on payroll data, benefits, taxes, and compliance documentation
  • Collaborate with human resources to ensure accurate data entry into HRIS (Human Resources Information System) platforms and update employee information as needed

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles including double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, journal entries, and general ledger reconciliation
  • Familiarity with financial concepts related to corporate accounting, governmental accounting, non-profit accounting or benefits administration
  • Proficiency in accounting software like QuickBooks or other financial management tools; experience with HRIS systems is a plus
  • Excellent data entry skills with high accuracy (10 key typing) and attention to detail
  • Understanding of tax regulations related to payroll processing and compliance requirements
  • Ability to analyze financial data effectively and perform account reconciliation tasks efficiently
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
