Breaker Electric Inc. is a reputable, established union electrical contractor based in Clarksburg, NJ 08510, Monmouth County, NJ. We take pride in delivering high-quality commercial and industrial installations. We are seeking a skilled, detail-oriented Part-Time Payroll Specialist who is well-versed in the unique world of construction payroll, collective bargaining agreements, and multi-union compliance.
Position Overview:
Job Type: Part-Time (approx. 20-32 hours per week) Schedule: Flexible scheduling options, with a mandatory presence on Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday to ensure timely payroll processing. Pay Range: [$35 – $45] per hour (commensurate with experience) Location:
In-office Key Responsibilities Union Payroll Processing: Accurately process weekly payroll for multi-union field personnel, ensuring compliance with local collective bargaining agreements (CBAs), varying wage scales, and fringe benefit structures. Certified Payroll Reporting: Prepare, review, and submit weekly Certified Payroll Reports (CPRs) via platforms like LCPtracker, DIR, or municipal portals to ensure strict prevailing wage compliance. Union Benefit Reporting: Reconcile and compile monthly union fringe benefit reports and remittance checks for multiple locals. Time & Attendance Tracking: Verify and audit field timesheets, matching hours worked to correct job codes, cost codes, and shift differentials. Tax & Compliance Management: Handle payroll tax filings, new hire reporting, employment verifications, and respond to payroll-related inquiries or union audits.
Qualifications & Experience :
Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of dedicated construction payroll experience is required. Direct experience handling union payroll is highly preferred.
Software Proficiency:
Strong proficiency with construction accounting and standard platforms like Excel. Technical Skills: Deep familiarity with prevailing wage laws, and union fringe benefit mechanics.
Attributes:
High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to maintain absolute confidentiality.
