Payroll Coordinator

The Arc of Spokane, a leading not-for-profit supporting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities is searching for a Payroll Coordinator to lead our payroll functions. You’ll work to ensure our payroll expenses and taxes are paid correctly and on time. Our ideal candidate is analytical and methodical, with experience in payroll administration and deep knowledge of payroll regulations. Your goal will be to ensure our payroll procedures are compliant, efficient and current.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process 2 semi-monthly payroll for approximately 250 employees
  • Develop systems to process payroll account transactions (e.g. salaries, benefits, garnishments, deductions, taxes and third party payments)
  • Coordinate timekeeping and payroll systems
  • Oversee processing of payroll changes (e.g. new hires, terminations, raises) and system upgrades
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws and internal policies
  • Manage payroll & payroll tax audits
  • Collaborate with Human Resources and Accounting team
  • Maintain accurate records and prepare reports
  • Resolve issues and answer payroll-related questions

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience as a Payroll Coordinator in automated systems
  • Current knowledge of payroll procedures and related labor laws
  • Excellent understanding of multi-location payroll and taxes
  • 2 years’ experience with payroll software/HRIS (e.g. Abila, ADP, Kronos) and MS Office (especially Excel)
  • Will assist with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, other accounting functions as assigned
  • High level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail with excellent follow through

Qualifications:

Excellent problem solving skills, an analytical mind and good math skills

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks efficiently, and meet competing deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Outstanding communication skills (written and oral)
  • 1- or 2-year Accounting degree preferred; professional certification (e.g. CPP, CPM) is a plus
  • Positive attitude and a willingness to improve process workflows where needed

Compensation: $24.00-$26.40. DOE starting range, entire scale to $31.20 per hour, Non-exempt, Part-time 32 hours per week, Medical, Dental, Life Insurance, 13 Paid Holidays, Vacation, Sick, Personal Leave.

  • All pay is based on longevity at The Arc of Spokane; thus, the starting pay for this position is $24.00 per hour.
