COMPENSATION: $19.00-$23.00/hour

PURPOSE

Supports in compensation function, including the processing of payroll and compiling necessary payroll related information. Provides support to other departments for payroll processing, training, and communication on standard operating procedures.

KEY RESPONSIBILITES AND COMPETENCIES

Assist the Payroll Department as follows:

  • Payroll Processing: Accurately process Payroll for all employees on a bi-weekly basis, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Data Entry: Input and maintain employee payroll data, including new hires, terminations, deductions, and time and attendance records.
  • Benefits Adjustments: Work with the benefits team to calculate, track and process benefit adjustments for arrears deductions.
  • Wage and Hour & Tax Compliance: Calculate and process payroll taxes, including federal, state, and local income tax withholding, and ensure timely remittance to appropriate tax authorities. Stay current with federal and state payroll regulations, wage and hour laws. Ensure the company's payroll practices remain in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Reporting: Generate and distribute various payroll reports, such as earnings statements, tax summaries, and labor cost reports.
  • Training: Conduct training for employees to enhance their understanding of payroll processes, compliance requirements, and the use of all payroll systems.
  • Recordkeeping: Maintain uniform, accurate, and organized payroll records, including employee files, tax documents, and historical payroll data.
  • Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service to employees by addressing payroll-related inquiries and resolving any payroll issues promptly via ticketing system.
  • Year-End Processing: Assist in preparing and distributing annual tax forms (W-2s) and ensuring timely filing with appropriate agencies.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline and improve payroll processes and systems.
Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proficiency in payroll software and Microsoft Excel. (summations, formulas, and intermediate functions such as VLOOKUP's and pivot tables)
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Interest or knowledge of human resources overall.
  • Ability to communicate well in a team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Primary work in a fitness facility and office setting. Temperature variations can occur. The environment includes some ambient noise such as talking and use of gym equipment and machinery.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Finger Dexterity: Using primarily just the fingers to make small movements such as typing, picking up small objects, or pinching fingers together.
  • Average Hearing: Able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information.
  • Average Visual Abilities: Average, ordinary visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or products or operate machinery.
  • Talking: Especially where one must frequently convey detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly.
  • Physical Strength: Sitting, standing, and walking. Must be able to lift, push, pull, and move a minimum of 30 pounds.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to deal with a variety of variables under limited standardization. Able to interpret various instructions and relay instructions to clients.
  • Attendance is an essential duty of the position. Employees must work regularly scheduled shifts, during business hours to assist members and sell services in-person.
