About the Role

The Payroll Manager oversees all aspects of payroll processing at YBCA. Highly skilled and detail-oriented you will be instrumental in overseeing all facets of payroll processing within our organization. This includes, but is not limited to, new hire data, terminations, salary adjustments, bonus payments, deductions, and leave information ensuring accuracy, compliance and timely payments of employees at YBCA. In this role you will actively collaborate with various departments to gather and validate all necessary payroll information, resolve payroll discrepancies and provide exceptional service to our employees.

This pivotal role requires strong analytical skills to investigate issues, reconcile data, and implement corrective measures to ensure the integrity of our payroll system. Furthermore, you will be expected to provide exceptional service to our employees by addressing their payroll-related inquiries with professionalism, clarity, and empathy, fostering a positive and trustworthy environment. Your expertise will be crucial in maintaining employee satisfaction and confidence in our payroll operations.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end payroll processing, including collecting, calculating and inputting payroll data for all employees.
  • Ensure accuracy and compliance with applicable laws, regulations and company policies while processing payroll.
  • Administer and maintain payroll systems, ensure data integrity and implement system upgrades and enhancements.
  • Collaborate with HR, finance and other departments to gather and validate payroll information, such as new hires, terminations, promotions and salary changes.
  • Ensure accurate tracking and processing of PTO, sick leave, and protected leaves.
  • Monitor and resolve payroll discrepancies, investigating and resolving issues promptly and accurately.
  • Generate payroll reports, including tax filings, benefits deductions and other required reports, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and to support completion of financial audits.
  • Address employee inquiries and concerns related to payroll, providing exceptional customer service and support.
  • Maintain confidentiality and data security standards for all payroll-related information.
  • Stay updated on payroll regulations, tax laws and industry trends, implementing necessary changes to ensure compliance and best practices.

Qualifications, Education, Training, and Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, human resources or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in payroll management or a similar accounting role.
  • In-depth knowledge of payroll processes, labor laws, collective bargaining agreements, taxation and statutory compliance.
  • Excellent understanding of financial principles and the ability to reconcile payroll with financial records.
  • Experience in handling payroll and worker’s compensation audits inspections and compliance assessments.
  • Proficiency in payroll software and systems, such as Paycom, with experience implementing and managing payroll systems.
  • Experience using enterprise accounting software for general ledger review and reconciliations related to payroll and taxes.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in managing complex payroll calculation data.
  • Good organizational and time management skills to meet strict payroll deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • High level of integrity and ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Google Sheets.

Ultimately, we are seeking applicants who have a blend – in some way – of the following:

  • Proven experience as a payroll manager or similar role
  • Familiarity with HRIS (Human Resources Information Systems) and time and attendance systems.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices related to payroll.
  • Ability to adapt to changing payroll regulations and implement necessary updates.
  • Current knowledge of payroll procedures and related laws
  • Excellent understanding of multi-location payroll and taxes
  • Familiarity with payroll software/ HRIS (e.g. Paycom, ADP, Kronos) and MS Office (especially Excel)
  • A keen eye for detail
  • Outstanding communication skills (written and oral)
  • Organizational and leadership skills

Compensation and Benefits

The salary for this position is $95,000/annually based on full-time hours, and includes a competitive benefits package.
