Under close supervision, responsible for payroll processing functions and activities in compliance with regulatory standards, policies and procedures. Assists and supports all aspects of departmental operations and reporting.
- Administers payroll practices utilizing diverse procedures and program requirements for the purpose of ensuring compliance with established guidelines.
- Processes payroll utilizing automated time-keeping systems and prepares government reporting in an accurate and timely manner.
- Provides payroll support by training employees and managers in the use of automated time-keeping systems.
- Completes all phases of the payroll processing cycle and prepares/files various bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
- May fill in for supervisor as needed.
- Assists employees, timekeepers, and supervisors with database training, payroll issues, and requests for payroll information on a regular basis.
- Researches payroll issues/discrepancies and processes necessary corrections.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Ability to demonstrate in-depth knowledge of payroll concepts, practices and policies with the ability to use them in varied situations.
- Strong mathematical and solution oriented mindset and critical thinking and analytical skill set.
- A solid customer service acumen and interpersonal skills to effectively work with both internal and external customers and respond to requests in a timely and respectful manner.
- Detail oriented with meticulous planning and organizational skills while balancing multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Proficient Microsoft Office Suite skills; payroll software systems experience is preferred.
- Payroll tax and Accounting knowledge is preferred.
Education:
- High school diploma or GED is required.
Required Skills
Five (5) year related experience utilizing an automated payroll system is required.
