JOB TITLE: Payroll Specialist
JOB SUMMARY
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for processing the company’s payroll accurately and on time. This includes collecting and verifying employee data, calculating wages, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, managing deductions, and resolving payroll discrepancies.
RESPONSIBILITIES/ ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
* Process weekly and bi-weekly payroll for all employees.
* Maintain accurate payroll records including new hires, terminations, promotions, and changes in pay.
* Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
* Review and reconcile payroll data and reports for accuracy.
* Calculate and administer deductions such as taxes, benefits and garnishments.
* Respond to payroll-related inquiries from employees and management.
* Prepare and distribute payroll reports to Finance and HR departments.
* Coordinate with HR to ensure accurate benefit deductions and cost allocations.
* Stay current on payroll procedures and relevant regulations.
* Assist with audits and year-end processes, including W-2 and 1099 reporting.
