- PBX operator responds to incoming calls in a timely manner and directs caller to appropriate destination providing a smooth, clear and professionally courteous communication practice.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
o Graduation from high school or equivalent general clerical experience or one year operating a telephone switchboard.
o Three years of experience may substitute for the required education.

o Typing skills and familiarity with word processing applications.
JOB SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS
1. Demonstrates an understanding of and adherence to the HMHD Compliance Plan.
2. Conduct reflects HMHD's values and a commitment to HMHD's Code of Conduct.
3. Attends the required corporate integrity and compliance training and education programs.
4. Demonstrates proficiency in understanding the materials presented during the corporate integrity and compliance training and education program.
5. Complies with all HIPAA standards.
6. Corrects and updates posted information as needed. Assists with the maintenance of directories and on-call list, etc.
7. Accurately utilizes the features of the PBX consoles, headsets, telephones and other related equipment.
8. Assist with maintaining cleanliness, safety and security of the PBX area. Maintains confidentiality, security and integrity of patient and organizational data.
9. Ensures release of information is consistent with all hospital policies.
10. Answers multiple incoming telephone lines using proper phone etiquette.
11. Obtains necessary information and transfers calls to correct extensions.
12. Provides information to callers as appropriate.
13. Performs overhead paging.
14. Monitors all alarms located in PBX and notifies appropriate personnel as required.
15. Responds quickly and accurately to disaster and emergency situations as required, remaining calm.
16. Maintains patient confidentiality at all times. Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.
17. Completes inservices and returns in a timely fashion. Completes annual education requirements.
18. Attends annual review and department inservices, as scheduled. Attends staff meetings, reads and returns all monthly staff meeting minutes.
19. Actively participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities.
