The purpose of this position is to assist in the oversight of Juvenile Community Supervision agencies who receive state general funds through a grant process. This position coordinates and conducts fidelity and quality assurance reviews of juvenile community supervision agencies; providing feedback and recommendations to ensure fidelity to evidence-based principles and compliance with KDOC operating standards. This position will work with other division staff to ensure juvenile supervision agencies implement quality assurance practices in accordance with their annual comprehensive plans and in compliance with policies, procedures, statutes and regulations, etc. Developing and maintaining effective working relationships with Directors, staff, advisory board members and other community agencies/partners is necessary in this position.
In conjunction with other division staff, provide, across all agency levels, the feedback, coaching, modeling, training and other support necessary to help adult supervision agencies increase their capacity to engage in fidelity and quality assurance practices, including:
Assist in reviewing adult supervision agency grant applications, including:
Assist the Director of Grants and Quality Assurance in data collection and analysis; in reporting on trends and progress; in providing updates; in carrying out on site meetings, trainings, and statewide conferences; and otherwise supporting recidivism-reduction capacity-building in juvenile supervision agencies and the department.
In conjunction with other division staff, perform an annual review of the Community Supervision Standards for Adult Intensive Supervised Probation and Community Case Management programs; present recommended changes to the Director of Grants and Quality Assurance and the Director of Community Based Services; implement approved changes.
Other duties as assigned.
One year of experience in planning, implementing and monitoring activities relevant to the agency’s programs. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.
Substitution: Completion of 60 semester hours of coursework from an accredited college or university, including 12 hours in corrections, criminal justice, the social sciences, or the behavioral sciences.
Bachelor’s Degree with 24 credit hours in criminal justice, social sciences, or behavioral sciences.
One year of experience working with offenders or other high risk population.
Experience auditing programs or services, including observing group work.
Experience in group facilitation.
Experience in skills coaching.
Experience in writing reports or other technical documents.
Demonstrated ability to engage, coach and motivate.
Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Knowledge of and experience in implementing evidence-based practices.
Strong interpersonal skills and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to develop strong collaborative working relationships.
Position requires the ability to be creative, use independent judgment, to think critically and adjust to a wide range of situations
