Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to provide essential support to individuals in need of assistance with daily living activities. The ideal candidate will have experience in caregiving, particularly in settings such as assisted living, nursing homes, or home care environments. This role involves working closely with residents to enhance their quality of life through personal care, companionship, and support tailored to their unique needs.
Duties
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Provide medication administration as prescribed and ensure proper documentation in EMR systems.
- Monitor and record vital signs as needed, reporting any changes to nursing staff.
- Support individuals with developmental disabilities and those requiring memory care, including Alzheimer’s and dementia care.
- Engage residents in social activities and provide emotional support to promote mental well-being.
- Prepare meals according to dietary restrictions and preferences while assisting with meal planning.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping tasks.
- Utilize equipment such as Hoyer lifts when necessary for safe transfers.
- Drive residents to appointments or community outings as required.
- Implement behavior management strategies when needed to support residents effectively.
Requirements
- Previous experience in personal care, senior care, or long-term care settings is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of first aid practices and emergency response procedures.
- Familiarity with caring for individuals with disabilities and understanding their unique needs.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with residents and their families.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also being self-motivated.
- Experience using EMR systems for documentation purposes is preferred.
- Valid driver’s license may be required for transportation duties.
