Key Responsibilities1. PCB Layout Design
- Design the layout of single-sided, double-sided, or multi-layer PCBs using tools like Altium Designer, KiCad, OrCAD, EAGLE, or Mentor Graphics.
- Optimize placement of components for signal integrity, power distribution, thermal performance, and manufacturability.
2. Schematic Capture
- Interpret or create circuit schematics to translate electrical designs into physical layouts.
- Work closely with hardware engineers to understand circuit functionality and design requirements.
3. Design Rule Checks (DRC) & Electrical Rule Checks (ERC)
- Ensure that the board design complies with electrical constraints, spacing rules, and manufacturing limitations.
- Run automated checks and fix issues.
4. Component Library Management
- Create and manage component footprints and symbols.
- Maintain an organized and accurate component library.
5. Gerber File Generation
- Generate Gerber files, Bill of Materials (BOM), and pick-and-place files required for fabrication and assembly.
6. Collaboration & Communication
- Work with electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, fabricators, and assembly teams.
- Participate in design reviews, provide updates, and incorporate feedback.
7. DFM & DFA Compliance
- Ensure that the design follows Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles.
8. Prototyping & Testing Support
- Assist in the prototyping phase and work with the test team to identify and resolve design issues.
9. Documentation
- Provide thorough documentation of designs, including version control, layer stack-up, fabrication notes, and assembly instructions.
10. Compliance & Standards
- Adhere to industry standards such as IPC standards, EMI/EMC guidelines, and RoHS compliance.
Desirable Skills

- Documentation:They prepare and review documentation for manufacturers, including schematics, assembly drawings, and fabrication files.
- Collaboration:PCB designers work closely with engineers, manufacturers, and other stakeholders to ensure the final product meets all requirements.
- Troubleshooting:They troubleshoot and resolve design-related issues, providing support to engineering and manufacturing teams.

- B.TECH OR M.TECH ELECTRICAL/ELECTRONICS/ETC/INSTRUMENTATION/MECHATRONICS
