Education Requirement:
Candidates must hold an MD, DO, or equivalent degree
Successful completion of an approved residency training program in Pediatric Cardiac Anesthesiology
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must be eligible for medical licensure in the state of Iowa
Candidates must be board-certified in Anesthesiology (or non-US Board equivalent) or be in the certification process. On occasion, individuals trained outside of the United States who are certified by an equivalent national certification group may be considered.
Demonstrated knowledge of effective strategies for working with faculty, staff, and students from a variety of backgrounds and perspectives.
Certifications:
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification through the American Heart Association
Desirable Qualifications:
American Board of Anesthesia Pediatric Certification
Previous formal supervisory experience is a plus
Fellowship training or equivalent clinical experience in Pediatric Anesthesia
Experience in teaching and clinical research
Job Description:
The University of Iowa Department of Anesthesia seeks a fellowship-trained or highly experienced Pediatric Cardiac Anesthesiologist to join our team at the nationally ranked UI Stead Family Children’s Hospital. This full-time faculty role involves providing anesthesia for neonatal and complex pediatric heart surgeries, cardiac catheterizations, and non-cardiac procedures in children with congenital heart disease. You’ll collaborate with pediatric cardiac surgeons, cardiologists, intensivists, and subspecialists in a team-based, academic environment focused on clinical excellence, education, and innovation.
Responsibilities include supervising trainees, participating in academic activities, and contributing to educational development. Research is encouraged but not required. Faculty appointments are available on the Clinical or Tenure Track at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor, or Instructor (non-track), depending on qualifications.
