Job Summary and Qualifications

Under the general supervision of the Pediatric Director, the Pediatric Clinical Nurse Leader Registered Nurse (RN) assumes responsibility for direction and coordination of all functions in the unit on his/her designated shifts. In collaboration with other members of the management team, you are responsible for the ongoing assessment of the quality of patient care services provided in unit.

Summerville Medical Center's Peds/PICU is a 6 bed unit. We are a swing bed unit and take care of general pediatric patients as well as PICU level of care patients. Our most common PICU pts are usually respiratory driven (asthma exacerbation, pneumonia). Our volume comes largely from the Peds ER. We have a general pediatric surgeon ( (Common surgeries – appendectomies, foreign body removal) and a pediatric gastroenterologist (GI cleanouts, GI disease flare ups) on campus which also generates volume. We staff with two nurses on the unit and flex up to meet acuity if needed.

What qualifications you will need:

• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• Neonate Resuscitate must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• PALS Pediatric Adv Life Supt must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
• STABLE must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
• (RN) Registered Nurse
• Associate Degree
