Pediatric Dental Assistant

Job Summary
A a Pediatric Dental Assistant with South Boulder Pediatric Dentistry, your enthusiasm and expertise will help create a positive, comfortable experience for our young patients. Our team will value you for the individual you are and support you as we succeed together.

In this role as a hygiene assistant (room to grow in the future), you will support the dentist by taking x-rays, performing hygiene procedures, ensure infection control protocols are followed, and assist with patient education. Your energetic approach and attention to detail will contribute to a welcoming environment that promotes healthy smiles and lifelong dental habits. Duties

  • Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, ensuring all equipment is sterilized and ready for procedures
  • Assist the dentist during various pediatric dental treatments, mainly examinations, cleanings, and sealants; with time this can move to help with operative procedures.
  • Take and develop dental X-rays using Open Dental & DTX Studio ensuring patient safety and comfort
  • Monitor vital signs and observe patient reactions throughout procedures to maintain safety and comfort
  • Maintain accurate dental records and document treatment details in Open Dental compliant with HIPAA regulations
  • Educate young patients and their guardians on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions
  • Follow strict infection control protocols using aseptic techniques to prevent cross-contamination in the dental clinic environment

Qualifications

  • Prior experience working in a dental clinic setting, preferably with pediatric patients and familiarity with pediatric dentistry procedures
  • Familiarity with Open Dental or similar.
  • Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry and pediatrics
  • Ability to operate dental X-ray equipment safely while adhering to radiation safety standards
  • Strong understanding of infection control practices, aseptic technique, and sterilization procedures
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with children, parents, and team members
  • Certification or training in chairside assisting, radiography (X-ray), or related fields is highly desirable

Pay: $22.00 - $28.00 per hour
