Responsibilities
- Assist the dental team with chairside procedures, including four-handed dentistry techniques, ensuring smooth and efficient patient care.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary supplies, and maintaining aseptic technique standards.
- Take and develop dental X-rays using digital imaging systems such as digital X-ray units and 3D scanners, ensuring accurate medical documentation.
- Monitor and assess patient comfort throughout procedures, providing reassurance and support to pediatric patients.
- Manage electronic medical records (EMR systems) through Eaglesoft to document treatment details accurately while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
- Support dental reception duties by scheduling appointments & updating medical records.
- Educate young patients on proper oral hygiene practices using age-appropriate communication methods tailored for pediatrics.
Requirements
- Prior experience working in a dental clinic setting, preferably with pediatric patients or in general dentistry environments.
- Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control protocols, and aseptic techniques essential for safe practice.
- Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft & familiarity with medical coding and medical documentation is a plus.
- Ability to perform X-ray procedures safely and accurately while adhering to radiation safety standards.
- Strong understanding of pediatric dentistry principles and the unique needs of children in a clinical setting.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with children, parents, and team members while demonstrating professionalism.
- Certification in dental assisting or related fields is preferred; ongoing training in pediatric dentistry is advantageous.
