Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Duties:
- Perform comprehensive oral examinations, diagnosis, and treatment planning for pediatric patients.
- Provide preventive and restorative dental care, including fillings, crowns, pulpotomies, and extractions.
- Deliver behavioral management techniques to ensure a positive dental experience for children.
- Perform dental procedures under General Anesthesia (GA) in collaboration with anesthesiologists and surgical team.
- Manage dental emergencies, including trauma cases, in children.
- Provide oral health education and counseling to parents and caregivers.
- Monitor post-operative recovery and ensure appropriate discharge instructions.
Hospital Privileges & Compliance:
- Maintain valid hospital privileges for procedures under GA.
- Ensure all procedures are performed following hospital protocols, infection control standards, and patient safety guidelines.
- Document all treatments and anesthesia-related procedures accurately in the patient’s medical record.
- Participate in regular morbidity and mortality (M&M) reviews related to GA cases, if required.
Collaboration & Coordination:
- Work closely with anesthesiologists, pediatricians, nurses, and OR staff to ensure smooth coordination of care.
- Refer patients to other dental or medical specialists as needed.
- Participate in interdisciplinary meetings and case discussions.
Quality & Safety:
- Adhere to infection control, sterilization, and radiation safety protocols.
- Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement programs, and accreditation processes (e.g., JCI, QCHP standards).
- Report and document adverse events or near misses related to GA or dental procedures.
Education & Professional Development:
- Stay updated on the latest techniques, guidelines, and evidence-based practices in pediatric dentistry and anesthesia.
- Attend continuing medical education (CME) programs and maintain licensure/certifications.
- Mentor dental assistants, interns, and junior staff when required.

Qualifications:
- Education: Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) with specialization in Pediatric Dentistry (MDS, MSc, or equivalent).
- Licensure: Valid and current license to practice dentistry in the country of employment (QCHP/DoH/DHA license or eligibility).
- Privileges to perform dental procedures under General Anesthesia (GA).
- BLS/ACLS or PALS certification (preferred or as required by hospital).
- Experience: Minimum 2–3 years post-specialization experience, including proven experience in performing dental procedures under GA.
