Responsibilities:

Administers the physical therapy treatment plan as developed by the Physical Therapist
Administers non-complex active and passive manual therapeutic exercises, therapeutic massage, traction, heat, light, cold, water and electrical modalities to patients
Applies concepts of infection control and universal precautions in coordinating/performing patient care activities to prevent contamination and transmission of disease
Accepts clinical assignments that are consistent with education and competence to care for patients
Meets mandatory continuing education requirements of the agency/licensing board
Plans and provides appropriate treatment for neuro-muscular, neurological and orthopedic disorders based on medical referral and therapy assessment
Assists/instructs patient/family in transfer techniques appropriate to patient abilities. Instructs on use of equipment such as walkers, wheelchair, canes, etc., in a safe manner. Utilizes appropriate therapy equipment specific to patient diagnosis and needs
Demonstrates commitment, professional growth and competency
Promotes Agency mission and administrative policies

Requirements:

A two year Associate Degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
Current Texas State License as a Physical Therapist Assistant
Current Texas Driver's License
Proof of current CPR and Hepatitis profile
Ability to do heavy lifting, bending, pulling, pushing and standing. Prolonged standing and walking required
Requires working under some stressful conditions to meet deadlines in patient needs and to meet patient/family individualized psycho social needs
Requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
Uses effective interpersonal relations and communication skills
