Paediatric Registrar

Consultant Paediatrician / Head of Paediatrics Department
Job Purpose:
The Paediatric Registrar provides medical care to infants, children, and adolescents under the supervision of consultant paediatricians. The role involves assessment, diagnosis, management, and follow-up of paediatric patients while contributing to clinical education, research, and continuous service improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clinical Care
- Provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient care for neonates, infants, children, and adolescents.
- Conduct thorough assessments, formulate management plans, and ensure timely interventions.
- Participate in ward rounds, clinics, and emergency calls.
- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment accordingly.
- Ensure safe handover of patients between shifts.
- Emergency & Acute Care
- Respond promptly to paediatric emergencies, including neonatal resuscitation and acute paediatric conditions.
- Assist in stabilization and transfer of critically ill patients when required.
- Procedures
- Perform paediatric procedures such as IV cannulation, lumbar puncture, blood sampling, and airway management under supervision.
- Support neonatal intensive care and special care baby units (SCBU).
- Teamwork & Communication
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including nurses, allied health professionals, and other specialists.
- Communicate effectively with patients’ families, providing support and clear explanations of treatment plans.
- Education & Training
- Participate in teaching and supervision of junior doctors, interns, and medical students.
- Attend departmental teaching sessions, journal clubs, and case discussions.
- Research & Audit
- Contribute to departmental audits, quality improvement initiatives, and clinical research projects.
- Professional Development & Governance
- Maintain professional registration and adhere to medical ethics and hospital policies.
- Participate in continuing medical education (CME) and mandatory training.
- Ensure compliance with infection control, safeguarding, and child protection guidelines.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- MBBS or equivalent medical degree.
- Postgraduate training in Paediatrics (DCH, MD, MRCPCH, or equivalent desirable).
- Current medical registration with relevant medical council.
- Experience in general paediatrics, neonatology, and emergency care.
- Strong clinical decision-making and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
Work Conditions:
- Rotational shifts including nights, weekends, and on-call duties.
- Based in paediatric wards, neonatal units, and outpatient clinics.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: ₹23.27 - ₹28.02 per hour
