POSITION SUMMARY
Under the general supervision of the Medical Director, the Pediatrician is responsible for providing high-quality pediatric care services by diagnosing patient conditions using but not limited to, analyzing reports, test results, medical records, immediate-family histories and including examinations to diagnose condition of patients and propose treatment options. The Pediatrician’s role will be responsible for assessing and diagnosing patients in any of our clinic locations while providing healthcare services that meet state and national Standards of Care. The Pediatrician will be responsible for prescribing pediatric patients with appropriate medications, health regimens and lifestyle adjustments that will contribute to their recovery from diagnosed health issues to prevent future health issues and/or promote a healthier life. The right candidate will enjoy working closely with other healthcare professionals and consistently respect the philosophy of Rolling Hills Clinic’s (RHC).
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides clinical services within the scope of a Pediatric Physician.

Diagnoses, treats, and provides high quality patient centered care in children of all ages and various medical conditions following accepted medical standards of practice.

Prescribes pharmaceuticals and other medications and treatment regimens to treat identified and documented medical conditions.

Refers patients to specialists and to relevant patient care components as appropriate

Evaluates and revises patient care/treatment plan with patient and family as necessary to achieve improved health

Provides education for patients and/or families about preventative care, medical issues and use of the prescribed medical treatment.

Provides accurate documentation of patient care, document orders, directives, procedures, and patient responses in the medical record and communicate them to other members of the health care team; maintain accurate, legible and confidential records.

Participates actively in the advancement of Rolling Hills Medical Home model, including innovative ideas, function as leader of a Care Team, participation in care team clinical benchmarking, and meaningful use of the electronic health record

Collaborates with the Medical Director, Provider Team and Clinic Operations Director to identify areas for system improvement, increased efficiency, communication and quality improvement activities

Develops relationships to provide for a broad spectrum of care with the various ancillary specialties available. (I.e. Rehab, Dental, Optical, Community Health, Behavioral Health, etc.)

Communicates within the department as well as across departments to ensure that information is shared for effective operations, and maintains strict confidentiality and adherence to HIPAA policies and procedures

Analyses’ reports, test results, medical records and examinations to diagnose condition of pediatric patients and propose treatment options.

Order’s laboratory and radiology tests and refer to specialist when appropriate and in a timely manner.

Discusses potential side effects of medication/treatment with patient and ensure that all allergy information is up-to-date before prescribing medications and treatment.

Adherers to department policies, procedures and objectives, ongoing quality improvement objectives and safety, environmental, and infection control standards.

Maintains patient confidentiality and comply with all federal and state health information privacy laws.

Participates in the development of medical department policies and procedures in accordance with Tribal policies, accreditation requirements and professional standards.

Has knowledge of principles and practices of medicine.

Has knowledge of the rules, regulations and procedures of an Indian Health Clinic or willingness to learn.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with administrative, fellow peers, and other work related outside agencies.

Safety: Responsible for ensuring that all duties, responsibilities and operations are performed with the utmost regard for the safety and health of all personnel involved, including patients and themselves by following required Federal/State/RHC protective protocols, policies and guidelines.

Take appropriate corrective actions to address matters pertaining to employee health and safety that have been brought to their attention.

SCOPE OF WORK
-
Be able to attend to no less than 12-16 patients per day.
- To work cohesively as a health care medical team by assisting other providers in completing their responsibilities as necessary, i.e. covering vacations and seeing patients, processing refill requests, following-up on referrals, covering telephone encounters and document in-bubbles/inbox.

Display the highest level of professionalism, integrity and a strong work ethic, serving as a model for all clinic staff.
- Maintain requirements of licensure, DEA certification and board certification. Fulfill and maintain requirements for credentialing, privileging internally and externally with payers and regulatory bodies.

Provide comprehensive, high quality medical services to patients, regardless of age, sex, gender identification, income, national origin or language.
- Consider individuals’ cultural, psychological, social and environmental factors in creating treatment/care plans.

Actively participate in meetings as assigned by medical director.

Participate in trainings of other medical personnel as requested.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
-
Doctor of Medicine, with valid California licensure.
-
Current Board Certification through American Board of Pediatrics.
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience practicing in a pediatric medicine

State of California and Federal DEA Certification

Knowledge of legal and ethical standards for the delivery of medical care

Knowledge of community medical diagnostic and patient care services in area of medical expertise

Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements
-
Ability to supervise, advise, and train clinical professionals in area of expertise; work independently and in a team environment

Must possess proof of applicable health department testing and vaccinations or testing/vaccination will be provided by FCP Employee Health

Excellent Patient Relations and communication skills

Ability to participate in clinic committees as requested

Demonstrated experience in the delivery of primary care.

Demonstrate clear knowledge of Rolling Hills Clinic structure, standards, procedures and protocols.

Must have ability to relate and communicate effectively with community interest groups, agencies, and medical facilities that serve the American Indian Community.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Three (3) years of experience working with a community clinic is highly desirable.

Established leadership skills.

Bilingual in Spanish.

VACCINATION REQUIREMENTS
A pre-employment Physical exam is required upon hire. You will be required to provide vaccination records to show proof of immunity for TB or PPD, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, TDAP & Hep B. If the records are more than 10 years old, titers are required to confirm immunity.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in a health clinic setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate. Will work with blood-borne pathogens and will require OSHA training. This job routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, telephones, photocopiers, and fax machines.
