Peer Mentor

Community Mediation Services, Inc. is seeking a qualified Peer Mentor with lived fatherhood experience

to support participants in our Fatherhood Program. This program is designed to support fathers in strengthening relationships with their children, co-parents, and communities while promoting self-sufficiency. Fathers will be engaged in a combination of case management, parenting skills training, support groups, family events, and community projects. The Peer Mentor will provide encouragement, co-facilitate groups, and assist with outreach and community projects. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, and a commitment to supporting fathers in their growth and engagement.

Some responsibilities include:

• Serving as a role model and trusted support for fathers.
• Co-facilitating support groups, workshops, and family events.
• Conducting outreach in community spaces (courts, NYCHA, barbershops, shelters, etc.)
• Supporting fathers navigating visitation, reentry, and parenting challenges.
• Helping to plan and lead community projects.

Qualifications:

• Lived experience (reconnection, supervised visitation, or reentry).
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Experience in mentoring, group facilitation, or outreach preferred.
• Must be available to work 20 hours each week with flexibility based on program needs (including evenings and occasional weekends).

Job Type: Part-time

Base Pay: $25,000.00 per year

Expected hours: No less than 20 per week
