Peer Support Worker

Job Overview

We are seeking an outgoing, dedicated peer support to work as support staff in home and in the community with an individual in the Johnstown area.

This is an as needed position (~3-5 hours a week) for evening and weekend hours, and primarily will support the individual with community activities, classes, and events. This position has the potential to transition to part-time (up to 15 hours a week) which would include added daytime hours (between 10:00am - 3:00pm). This role is ideal for someone who:

Responsibilities

• Help the individual to explore her interests within the community to support and increase community engagement
• Support the individual in building age-appropriate friendships and connections
• Foster independence and an environment that is supportive of the individual meeting their personal goals
• Maintain accurate documentation through electronic service note completion
• Collaborate with family members and other support staff to best meet the needs of the individual

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of professional and/or personal experience working with individuals with autism and/or other intellectual or developmental disabilities

AND/OR

• 1-2 years of professional and/or personal experience in a support type and/or caregiving role

Job Requirements

• A valid driver’s license
• Reliable transportation
• CPR and First Aid certified
• Criminal background check

Pay: From $16.00 per hour
