Performance Base Seismic Design Engineer

At Jacobs, we're challenging today to reinvent tomorrow by solving the world's most critical problems for thriving cities, resilient environments, mission-critical outcomes, operational advancement, scientific discovery and cutting-edge manufacturing, turning abstract ideas into realities that transform the world for good.

Your impact

Jacobs is looking for a talented Performance Based Seismic Design Engineer to join our Buildings & Logistics team in Dubai. You will contribute to Jacobs’ mission of delivering resilient, sustainable, and future‑ready built environments. This role supports our Buildings & team by developing advanced structural engineering solutions for mid‑rise and high‑rise buildings, complex facilities, and critical infrastructure across the Middle East region. The position emphasizes the application of cutting‑edge seismic analysis techniques, nonlinear modeling, and performance‑driven design approaches to help our clients navigate risk, enhance safety, and achieve long‑term value.

The ideal candidate will bring strong technical depth in structural dynamics, nonlinear behavior of materials and systems, and seismic risk assessment. Experience working on building projects in moderate to high seismic regions is essential, along with a commitment to innovation, collaboration, and delivering solutions that reflect Jacobs’ values of safety, integrity, and technical excellence.

Here’s What You Will Do

  • Coordinate engineering design and calculations in compliance with international code of practice.
  • Deliver performance‑based seismic design (PBSD) solutions for mid‑rise and high‑rise buildings, complex structures, and critical facilities.
  • Develop advanced nonlinear structural models and conduct nonlinear static and dynamic analyses.
  • Apply state‑of‑the‑art seismic methodologies to support resilient, efficient, and code‑compliant building designs.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across Jacobs to integrate seismic design strategies into broader project objectives.
  • Prepare technical reports, design documentation, and analysis summaries for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support seismic risk assessments, ground‑motion selection, and performance evaluation across multiple hazard levels.
  • Contribute to innovation initiatives, digital delivery, and continuous improvement within the structural engineering team.

Here's what you'll need

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering.
  • Strong background in structural dynamics, nonlinear behavior, and earthquake engineering principles.
  • 15 years experience in delivering PBSD for buildings in moderate to high seismic regions.
  • Proficiency with industry‑standard analysis tools (e.g., ETABS, PERFORM‑3D, SAP2000).
  • Familiarity with international seismic codes and guidelines (ASCE 7, ASCE 41, IBC, ACI, tall building guidelines, etc.).
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a global, multidisciplinary environment.
