Perioperative Supply Chain Coordinator

Position Summary:

The Perioperative Supply Chain Coordinator serves as the operational supply chain liaison for surgical services, ensuring the efficient procurement, inventory management, and distribution of supplies supporting Operating Room (OR) and procedural departments. The coordinator collaborates closely with clinical leadership, surgical technologists, vendors, and supply chain staff to ensure operational efficiency and cost-effective supply utilization.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • High school diploma required.
  • Associate’s Degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Supply Chain, or related field preferred.
  • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum 3–5 years healthcare experience in one of the following areas required:
  • Hospital Supply Chain / Materials Management.
  • Operating Room inventory management.
  • Perioperative services support.
  • Healthcare logistics or inventory operations.
  • Surgical Technologist (Scrub Tech) experience.
  • Experience working as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred.
  • Experience supporting surgical case carts and procedural supply coordination preferred.

Licensure/Certification/Registration

  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for maintaining optimal inventory levels, ensuring supply availability for surgical procedures, supporting value analysis initiatives, ensuring contract compliance, and maintaining supply chain data accuracy within ERP system.
  • Monitor supply usage and identify opportunities to improve inventory management and reduce waste.
  • Support cycle counts, inventory reconciliation, and inventory accuracy initiatives.
  • Plays a key role in inventory optimization, surgical supply coordination, vendor communication, and recall management across perioperative services.
  • Track supply shortages, backorders, and supply disruptions and coordinate resolution with buyers and vendors.
  • Ensure supplies ordered align with approved contracts and value analysis decisions.
  • Assist with vendor coordination related to surgical supplies and equipment.
  • Manage vendor credentialing compliance through vendor management systems when applicable.
  • Coordinate product recall notifications and removal of affected products from inventory locations.
  • Maintain item master accuracy including product descriptions, vendor data, and unit of measure.
  • Assist with product conversions, catalog maintenance, and contract updates within ERP systems.
  • Work effectively and collaboratively with colleagues, physicians, and department heads.
  • Effectively utilize strong organizational skills.
  • Consistently display effective verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient understanding and use of technology/PC skills required.
  • Regularly exercise independent judgement.
  • Completes other duties as assigned by department leadership.
