Responsibilities
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts or transfer belts.
- Monitor patient health by taking vital signs, observing for changes in condition, and reporting findings accurately to healthcare professionals.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with feeding when necessary.
- Administer medications following prescribed schedules and maintain detailed medication administration records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Support clients with cognitive impairments such as dementia or Alzheimer's disease through memory care techniques and personalized care plans.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping tasks including cleaning, laundry, and organizing personal spaces.
- Document care activities diligently, update care plans regularly, and communicate effectively with healthcare teams to ensure continuity of care.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in home health, assisted living, nursing home settings, or group homes working with individuals with disabilities or developmental challenges.
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques, vital signs monitoring, and basic nursing skills including CPR and first aid certification.
- Familiarity with HIPAA compliance, medication administration protocols, and documentation standards.
- Ability to lift heavy objects safely and assist clients with mobility using appropriate equipment such as Hoyer lifts or transfer devices.
- Experience working with individuals with autism, dementia, Alzheimer's disease, or other memory impairments is highly desirable.
- Strong interpersonal skills to provide compassionate support while respecting client dignity and independence.
- Flexibility to work various shifts including evenings, weekends, or overnight hours as needed for comprehensive care delivery.
