Overview
This full-time position serves as a trusted partner supporting the smooth functioning of Ambassador Swanee Hunt’s daily life, household operations, and evolving personal and professional priorities. The Assistant provides proactive, hands-on support across personal and family logistics, health-related coordination, household management, travel, and event support.
Working in close collaboration with Ambassador Hunt’s Executive Assistant and Administrative Assistant in a team referred to as “The Bevy”, as well as the foundation’s programmatic and operations teams, this position ensures the smooth functioning of Ambassador Hunt’s daily life and household operations through proactive coordination, thoughtful support, and anticipation of changing needs.
Success in this role requires discretion, flexibility, sound judgment, and the ability to adapt quickly in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities
Daily support and coordination
- Help Ambassador Hunt navigate the day-to-day flow of personal and professional commitments, ensuring she has the information, materials and support needed to move smoothly between priorities
- Prepare for upcoming meetings, appointments, travel, and convenings by ensuring relevant arrangements are in place
- Monitor schedules and changing plans, communicating updates and coordinating real-time logistics as necessary
- Monitor time-sensitive communications and surface important information appropriately
- Maintain an organized environment that allows Ambassador Hunt to focus on her work and relationships
Health and well-being support
- Coordinate health-related logistics, including appointments, medication systems, and follow-up care
- Maintain organized medical information and ensure important details are readily accessible
- Support health-related needs during travel and periods of recovery
Household and vendor management
- Oversee household vendors, contractors, cleaning services, and other service providers, ensuring work is coordinated, completed, and aligned with priorities
- Coordinate scheduling, access, and follow-up with household vendors and contractors
- Review vendor proposals, obtain pricing information, and negotiate rates or service arrangements, as appropriate
- Track household and personal expenses, maintain organized records of purchases, and ensure receipts and supporting documentation are properly maintained
- Process invoices and coordinate payments in partnership with Finance and Operations staff
- Manage household inventory and supplies when needed, including groceries, office supplies, and other essential items
- Execute errands, shopping, gifts, mail, shipping, and other personal logistics
- Coordinate pet care, including veterinary appointments, pet supplies, and arranging for pet sitters during travel
- Assist with clothing care, including ironing, steaming, and coordinating alterations and dry cleaning
Travel and event support
- Coordinate domestic and international travel arrangements and maintain detailed itineraries and supporting documentation
- Adjust travel logistics in real time as circumstances change
- Support personal and professional events hosted by Ambassador Hunt
- Provide on-site staffing during events and travel, as needed
Hospitality support
- Prepare light meals, refreshments, and snacks as needed to support Ambassador Hunt’s schedule, health needs, and hosting activities
- Assist in maintaining a comfortable and welcoming home environment, including coordinating care for indoor plants and shared spaces
- Support the day-to-day details that contribute to Ambassador Hunt’s comfort and well-being
Required Qualifications
The ideal candidate for this role will have:
- At least five years of experience in personal support, household operations, executive support, hospitality, caregiving, or related fields.
- Experience supporting the personal and professional priorities of a senior executive, principal, or other high-profile individual.
- Experience coordinating residential operations, including vendors, contractors, household staff, and service providers.
- Exceptional discretion, professionalism, and sound judgment in handling confidential and sensitive matters.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
- The ability to anticipate needs, solve problems proactively, and adapt quickly in a dynamic environment where priorities frequently shift.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive working relationships with family members, guests, colleagues, and external partners.
- Comfort supporting both intimate gatherings and larger hosted events with professionalism and warmth.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) and the ability to learn new tools and systems as needed.
- A valid driver’s license and willingness to run errands and travel locally, as needed.
Work Environment
This role is based at Ambassador Hunt’s residence in Washington, DC, and includes time at the Ambassador’s family foundation offices, located next door. The position requires consistent in-person presence.
The scope of this work includes regular evening events and occasional weekend gatherings associated with hosted convenings.

Pay: $33.00 - $36.00 per hour
