Personal Care Assistant

Responsibilities

  • Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility
  • Monitor patients’ health by taking vital signs and observing for any changes in condition
  • Support medication administration following care plans and HIPAA regulations to ensure privacy and safety
  • Prepare nutritious meals and assist with meal planning to meet dietary needs
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment through regular cleaning and sanitation tasks
  • Use specialized equipment like Hoyer lifts or wheelchairs to safely transfer residents with mobility challenges
  • Document patient observations, care provided, and any incidents accurately in compliance with healthcare standards
  • Provide companionship and emotional support to promote mental well-being and reduce feelings of isolation

Requirements

  • Prior experience in home care, assisted living, nursing homes, or group homes is highly preferred
  • Knowledge of patient observation techniques and ability to recognize changes in condition or behavior
  • Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional certifications such as Alzheimer's or dementia care are a plus
  • Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, or memory care needs is advantageous
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when assisting with transfers or mobility tasks
  • Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality of patient information
  • Strong communication skills and compassionate attitude toward clients of all ages and backgrounds
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are preferred for home visits
