Job Summary
Havena Home Services is seeking a compassionate and dependable Personal Care Assistant to support clients in living safely and comfortably at home. You will follow individualized care plans to assist with day-to-day activities, offer companionship, and help maintain a stable, organized environment. Your warm attitude and strong attention to detail will ensure each person receives respectful, personalized care that protects their dignity, supports their independence, and aligns with Havena’s standards of quality and safety.
Responsibilities
- Follow each client’s individualized care plan, schedule, and Havena policies when providing services
- Assist with non-medical Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and safe mobility/transfers (if trained)
- Provide medication reminders only, in accordance with the care plan and Havena’s non-medical scope of practice
- Prepare simple, nutritious meals and snacks, and assist with feeding as needed while respecting dietary needs and preferences
- Perform light housekeeping related to the client’s care (e.g., tidying, sweeping, dishes, laundry, changing bed linens, taking out trash) to maintain a clean, safe home environment
- Offer companionship and supervision through conversation, social activities, and engagement in the home and community
- Accompany clients to appointments or community outings and/or run essential errands as allowed by the service plan
- Observe and promptly report changes in client condition, behavior, or home safety, and complete all required documentation and EVV/timekeeping accurately and on time
- Use proper infection control, universal precautions, and safety practices at all times
- Maintain professional boundaries, protect client confidentiality, and treat every client with dignity, respect, and cultural sensitivity
Experience
- Prior experience working in home care, assisted living, group homes, residential settings, or direct support is highly preferred
- Strong background supporting individuals of various ages who have disabilities, chronic conditions, or need help with day-to-day activities
- Familiarity with professional boundaries, client rights, confidentiality, and privacy practices including HIPAA.
- Hands-on experience assisting with safe transfers, mobility support, and use of equipment (e.g., gait belts, walkers, wheelchairs; Hoyer lifts if trained)
- Experience following individualized care plans and completing basic agency documentation (such as time records, EVV entries, or simple visit notes) as required
- Experience working with diverse populations, including seniors, people with disabilities, or individuals needing ongoing in-home support
- Current CPR and First Aid certification is strongly preferred (or willingness to obtain after hire); additional training in dementia care or behavior support is a plus
Pay: $16.00 - $19.00 per hour
