Personal Care Assistant

Overview
Join our compassionate team as a Personal Care Assistant and make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals requiring support with daily activities and personal care. This vital role offers an opportunity to provide respectful, attentive, and personalized care in various settings such as assisted living facilities, group homes, or patients' private residences. As a Personal Care Assistant, you will promote independence, ensure safety, and enhance the quality of life for those you serve through dedicated caregiving and attentive observation.

Responsibilities

  • Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts when necessary.
  • Monitor patients’ health status by taking vital signs, observing changes in condition, and reporting findings accurately to healthcare professionals.
  • Support medication administration following HIPAA guidelines and care plans to ensure safety and compliance.
  • Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs while maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards in the kitchen area.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of care provided, patient observations, and any incidents or changes in condition to ensure continuity of care.
  • Engage clients in social activities and provide companionship to promote mental well-being and reduce feelings of isolation.
  • Follow all safety protocols including CPR and First Aid procedures to respond effectively during emergencies or accidents.

Skills

  • Proven experience in home health, assisted living, nursing home environments, or working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism.
  • Strong knowledge of patient observation techniques, medication administration, and vital signs monitoring.
  • Familiarity with care plans, HIPAA regulations, dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, memory care, hospice care, and resident’s <PERSON> management.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting safely using equipment such as Hoyer lifts; physical stamina for long shifts is essential.
  • Excellent communication skills for working collaboratively with healthcare teams and family members.
  • Compassionate attitude with a focus on patient-centered support; experience in social work or caregiving preferred.
  • Basic cleaning skills to maintain a safe and hygienic environment for clients.
