Personal Care Assistant (PCA)

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to provide essential support to individuals in need of assistance with daily living activities. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to enhancing the quality of life for our clients, whether in a personal care home, retirement home, or through home community care. This role requires a blend of interpersonal skills and practical knowledge to ensure the well-being and comfort of those we serve.

Duties

• Assist clients with daily living activities, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
• Provide direct support in medication administration as prescribed by healthcare professionals.
• Monitor and record vital signs as needed, ensuring any changes are reported promptly.
• Offer companionship and emotional support to enhance the client's overall well-being.
• Help clients engage in social and recreational activities to promote their physical and mental health.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients, adhering to all health and safety protocols.
• Assist with mobility and transfers, ensuring the comfort and safety of clients at all times.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers and family members to create personalized care plans tailored to each client’s needs.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in personal care or a related field is preferred.
• PCA / CNA license.
• Driving License.
• Knowledge of first aid practices is beneficial for ensuring client safety.
• Familiarity with medication administration procedures is an asset.
• Strong understanding of home community care principles, long-term care practices, and retirement home environments is advantageous.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to build rapport with clients and their families.
• Compassionate nature with a genuine desire to help others improve their quality of life.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, demonstrating reliability and professionalism at all times.
