Job Summary
We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Personal Design Assistant and Showroom Associate. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, resourceful, and able to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. In this role you will help support the owner on client projects during in-house design appointments, invoices, project management, and installations. You will also greet customers in the showroom, assisting them with initial project questions and fabric selections.
Key Responsibilities:
Design Assistant
- Accompany the owner during all in home or in store design appointments
- Take detailed photos and notes on the client’s project such as design choices, fabric selections, measurements, etc.
- Work with the owner to price fabrics, order memos, build invoices, create workorders, and conduct other research necessary to complete the project
Project Coordination:
- Help manage ongoing design projects, tracking deadlines, and deliverables
- Collaborate with team members to support project execution and client satisfaction.
Store Coverage & Customer Service
- Open showroom and cover store when needed
- Warmly greet and assist walk-in customers and create a positive client experience.
- Support the owner in preparing for showroom events and client visits.
Client and Vendor Communication:
- Act as a point of contact for clients and vendors, addressing inquiries and providing information.
- Assist in coordinating sample requests, and client consultations.
- Maintain professional and friendly communication with all clients and vendors.
General Support:
- Help maintain organization of the workroom
- Conduct research on design trends, vendors, and materials as requested.
- Handle miscellaneous tasks that support the owner and team, demonstrating flexibility and initiative.
- Including but not limited to: being available to do pickups or deliveries when needed (mileage will be reimbursed)
- Uphold confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a personal assistant, administrative assistant, or in a similar role, preferably in the design or retail industry.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite) is a plus.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines.
- A proactive and positive attitude, with a willingness to take on new challenges.
- Knowledge or interest in interior design and fabrics is highly desirable.
- Must have reliable transportation
