Job Overview:A Personal Injury Prelitigation Paralegal plays a crucial role in a law firm specializing in personal injury cases. This position involves providing essential support to attorneys during the initial phases of personal injury cases, before litigation is initiated. Knowledge of Spanish and/or Russian is highly desirable for this role, as it can facilitate effective communication with clients who speak these languages.

Responsibilities:

Client Communication:Communicate with clients to gather initial information about their personal injury claims, injuries, and the accident.
Conduct interviews in English, Spanish, and/or Russian, as needed, to ensure clear and accurate information.

Case Documentation:Assist in the preparation and organization of case files, ensuring all relevant documents and evidence are collected.
Translate documents, if necessary, from Spanish and/or Russian to English or vice versa.

Investigation and Research:Conduct preliminary investigations by gathering accident reports, medical records, police statements, and other relevant evidence.
Utilize legal research tools to assist attorneys in assessing the merit of the case.

Medical Records Management:Request and obtain medical records and bills for clients to evaluate the extent of their injuries.
Translate medical records if they are in Spanish or Russian.

Communication with Insurance Companies:Correspond with insurance companies to report claims and negotiate initial settlements on behalf of clients.
Translate written communication as necessary.

Client Support:Provide emotional support and information to clients throughout the prelitigation process.
Update clients on the status of their cases and answer their questions.

Drafting Documents:Prepare demand letters and other legal documents necessary for the prelitigation phase.
Translate legal documents, when required, to ensure client understanding.

Deadline Management:Manage and calendar deadlines for filing claims, responding to offers, and other critical milestones in personal injury cases.

Multilingual Support:Assist clients who speak Spanish and/or Russian in navigating the legal process and ensure they fully comprehend their rights and options.

Team Collaboration:Collaborate with attorneys, other paralegals, and legal assistants to ensure a seamless flow of information and tasks within the firm.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree or paralegal certification is preferred.
  • Fluency in English is essential. Knowledge of Spanish and/or Russian is highly desirable.
  • Previous experience working as a paralegal in a personal injury law firm is a plus.
  • Proficiency in legal research, case management software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational abilities.
  • The ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.

A Personal Injury Prelitigation Paralegal is an integral part of a legal team focused on securing compensation and justice for personal injury victims. Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $46,000.00 - $54,428.63 per year
