Main Duties:
• Support individual students and small groups during lessons and structured
intervention sessions, both inside and outside the classroom, to help them fully
engage with the curriculum.
• Undertake a specialist role, using subject-specific expertise (e.g. English, Maths,
Science, Arabic) to deliver targeted learning activities and intervention programmes.
• Plan and deliver intervention programmes in collaboration with teaching staff,
focusing on helping students make measurable academic progress.
• Observe, monitor, and report on student progress during interventions and classroom
learning, identifying areas for improvement and contributing to planning and review
discussions.
• Liaise with subject teachers and leaders to ensure intervention content aligns with
curriculum objectives and student needs.
• Coordinate the work of other support staff (where applicable) to support shared
intervention goals and consistent implementation.
• Access and update student progress data and records to inform future planning and
monitor the impact of support.
• Maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment in line with the
school’s policies on health, safety, behaviour, and safeguarding.
• Participate in staff meetings, training opportunities, and performance reviews as
required.
• Support and model the school’s ethos, values, and expectations in all aspects of
professional conduct, including dress, punctuality, and attendance.
• Carry out other relevant duties as directed by the principal or leadership team.
Specific Duties
• Deliver subject-specific interventions to individuals or small groups under the
direction of teaching staff.
• Adapt learning materials and approaches to meet the varying needs and progress
levels of students in intervention groups.
• Monitor student engagement and understanding during sessions, offering
constructive feedback and encouraging academic confidence.
• Provide in-class support to help reinforce key learning objectives and promote active
participation.
• Assist students in preparing for assessments and examinations through revision
strategies, study support, and retrieval practice.
• Prepare, organise, and maintain teaching resources and learning materials to support
both classroom learning and intervention delivery.
• Display and present students’ work to enhance the learning environment and
celebrate achievement.
• Assist with daily classroom routines, including setting up resources, taking attendance,
and end-of-day organisation.
• Supervise students in the classroom and other school settings (e.g. corridors, break
times, educational visits), ensuring their safety and positive conduct.
• Promote student wellbeing, self-esteem, and responsible behaviour in line with the
school’s behaviour policy.
