Personnel Administrator I
The Hillman Cancer Center (HCC) provides exceptional patient care as a world leader in understanding, preventing, and treating cancer through the integration of scientific discovery, clinical excellence, and community partnerships, while training the next generation of cancer experts. This position is a University of Pittsburgh role within the Personnel Team in the Fiscal Department of HCC. The Personnel Team handles all HR related transactions for University staff, students, temps and academics. This position requires someone with excellent attention to detail and customer service, and the ability to multitask. This is a hybrid position, working 2 days in the office a week, and as needed for meetings.
Serves as a primary contact for faculty, staff, union, and students regarding all payroll actions and issues and provides support and guidance. Reviews and corrects record changes, payroll actions, employment forms, and payroll registers. Approves recruitment actions, requests, and reclassifications; onboards new and rehired faculty, staff, and students. Performs data entry and maintains all filing systems. Ensures accuracy and compliance with policies and regulations.
This position provides front line administrative/Human Resource support within the Personnel Division of the Hillman Cancer Center. Incumbent is responsible for monitoring and maintaining personnel-related operations within Hillman Cancer Center. HR duties can include processing academic appointments, completing phone screens for open positions, completing exit interviews, reviewing job descriptions and entering requisitions into the applicant tracking system, overseeing the completion of performance reviews, and coordinating with the Office of International services on VISA issues. Some financial aspects of monitoring personnel related operations also includes SPAR modifications, tracking and projecting of efforts in Excel as well as monitoring effort certification statements in the University’s online Effort Reporting system, and working with internal and external contacts to confirm personnel information for individuals associated with Hillman Cancer Center research. Incumbent needs a human resource related degree and a minimum of 1 year of HR related experience. This position requires someone who is extremely detail oriented, and customer service driven. Candidates with experience in a University setting preferred. Incumbent must be extremely organized and able to use basic functions in Microsoft Office products. This is a hybrid position, with 2 days in office a week.
Little physical effort required. Duties are primarily sedentary. May be required to move objects up to 25 pounds occasionally.
