Job Description

To advise supervisors and employees on personnel policies, procedures, and benefits; maintain personnel records systems; prepare or review personnel actions; perform related work.

The Personnel Technician for Data Processing provides general Human Resources (HR) support related to payroll, time entry, new hire paperwork, benefits, and personnel transactions (e.g., EPAFs, contracts). This role makes referrals to other HR team members as appropriate such as but not limited to Employee Relations, Compensation, HR Data, FMLA, Recruitment, and HR policy/procedure. Additionally, this role plays a key part in data integrity monitoring, audit support, and training documentation, and serves as a backup support for other HR areas as needed.

Key Responsibilities


  • Provide general customer service response on behalf of the HR department related to payroll, time entry, new hire paperwork, benefits, general EPAF guidance, and refer complex issues to appropriate HR team members as appropriate.
  • Cross train with Program Information Coordinator to provide back-up support for duties as needed.
  • Process new-hire paperwork for employees, ensuring timely and accurate data entry and compliance.
  • Deliver EPAF training, guidance, and resources to campus users; monitor and respond to EPAF email inbox, provide responsive issue resolution and troubleshooting.
  • Serve as primary review and processor for Temporary Faculty Contracts, PARTS forms and PARTS stipend forms; review, process, and audit PR’s and AmeriCorps stipends as needed.
  • Maintain data accuracy by running and reviewing reports, correcting system discrepancies, and ensuring integrity across HR databases.
  • Compile accurate payroll and personnel information for auditors and compliance reporting.
  • Process the appropriate time approver and supervisor reporting structure adjustments (TORGs, Cornerstone, etc).
  • Assist with the compilation of lists for ISU faculty and staff eligible for years-of-service recognition; update as needed with changes.

Minimum Qualifications

Some knowledge of:

  • Computerized record systems.

Experience:

  • Providing technical assistance with the processes regarding the application of personnel policies and procedures.
  • Reviewing documents for accuracy, completeness, and compliance; compiling data and information for reports.
  • Composing letters and memorandum.
  • Performing arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages.
  • Explaining policies and procedures.

Additional Information

ISU minimum for this classification is $19.01/hour.
