Pet Care Specialist

Steamboat Pets is a small business providing the highest quality pet care in Steamboat Springs, CO and the surrounding area. We are professional, communicative and always prioritize the well-being of the pets in our care.

We are seeking a dedicated part time Pet Care Specialist to join our team for day time or overnight services, or both. This role has flexible hours, working anywhere from 5 to 20 hours per week depending on availability and performance. If you have a passion for animals and enjoy caring for pets, keep reading!

Responsibilities

• Provide attentive care to pets in their own homes or at designated locations.
• Private dog walks, pet drop-in visits or hourly sitting, cat drop-in visits, and 1-3 small group hikes possible every week. Schedule is based on your availability and service demand; may be inconsistent.
• Feed, water and exercise pets as needed.
• Monitor pets for any health or behavioral issues and report concerns.
• Ensure pets have clean living spaces and comfortable environments.
• Follow specific care instructions provided by pet owners.
• Maintain a log of activities and any notable observations during walk, hikes and pet sitting sessions.
• Administer oral or topical medications as needed.

Required Skills and Experience

• Experience in pet sitting, animal handling, or related field.
• Ability to handle multiple animals with care, compassion and leadership.
• Strong customer service skills and an excellent communicator to interact effectively with pet owners.
• Capable of heavy lifting when necessary for larger animals or dogs that pull on leash and walking several miles.
• We work in ALL weather conditions, so you must be comfortable driving, walking, and working in heat, rain, blizzards, and winter conditions.
• You will be expected to use your own vehicle; and it must be a reliable car with AWD or 4WD, snow tires, drivers license, valid registration and insurance.
• You must have a smart phone with a working camera and be comfortable working independently via your phone.
• You must have customer service skills with attention to detail.
• You must be comfortable cleaning up after animals.
• Excellent time management skills; holiday availability.

• We do not guarantee hours and your schedule will change week-to-week.
• You keep all your tips. We do not pool tips, so they will be inconsistent
• Looking for someone who can provide consistency for our beloved clients and their pets. This looks like a person who is planning to reside in Routt County long term (no plan to move within the next 5 years and can work for Steamboat Pets regardless of the season.
