PETROL ENGINE MECHANIC & DIESEL MECHANIC

Job Summary

A Diesel Mechanic specializes in maintaining, repairing, and diagnosing diesel engines used in trucks, buses, heavy machinery, generators, and industrial equipment. The role requires expertise in fuel injection systems, hydraulics, and engine performance & A Petrol Engine Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining petrol-powered vehicles, machinery, and equipment. The role involves troubleshooting engine issues, performing routine servicing, and ensuring optimal engine performance and safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect, diagnose, and repair petrol engines and related components.
  • Perform regular maintenance such as oil changes, tune-ups, filter replacements, and spark plug servicing.
  • Identify mechanical and electrical faults using diagnostic tools.
  • Overhaul and rebuild petrol engines when required.
  • Test engine performance and make necessary adjustments.
  • Repair or replace engine parts such as carburetors, fuel injection systems, ignition systems, and exhaust systems.
  • Inspect, service, and repair diesel engines and mechanical components.
  • Diagnose complex faults in fuel systems, turbochargers, injectors, pumps, and emissions systems.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, including oil/filter changes, lubrication, and adjustments.
  • Overhaul diesel engines and replace worn or damaged parts.
  • Test drive vehicles or operate machinery to verify repair quality.
  • Calibrate fuel systems and ensure engines meet performance standards.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Technical knowledge of petrol engines and fuel systems.
  • Ability to use diagnostic and repair tools.
  • Good understanding of mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems.
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engine systems and heavy-duty equipment.
  • Proficient with diagnostic scanners, mechanical tools, and measuring instruments.
  • Understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems.
  • Ability to read technical manuals and schematics.
