The DAV Group - Chennai, functioning under the aegis of Tamil Nadu Arya Samaj Educational Society was established in 1970 at Gopalapuram in Chennai with just 50 students. The Group today, caters to over 40,000 students across Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. It has a staff of 1500 plus which includes 1,200 teachers. Four of our branches have been consistently ranked amongst top 15 schools in the country.
In addition to K-12 schooling, DAV has recently ventured into Higher Education with DAV-SMK Fomra College of Arts & Science at Kelambakkam, Chennai.
In this context, we would be interested in recruiting suitable candidates for the position of a qualified Biology teacher for senior‑secondary classes (Grades 11 & 12). The teacher will deliver biology lessons (theory and practical), prepare students for board examinations (and optionally competitive exams), and foster scientific thinking, conceptual clarity, and confidence in the subject.
Educational Qualification

Master’s degree in Biology or a related life‑sciences discipline (e.g. Botany, Zoology, Life Sciences, Biotechnology, etc.) — as per school/board requirement.

Professional teaching qualification (e.g. B.Ed or equivalent), if required by the school/board.

Strong subject knowledge and ability to teach biology (theory + practical) to senior‑secondary students.
Roles & Responsibilities

Plan and deliver structured Biology lessons (theory and practical where applicable) for Classes 11 and 12.

Prepare lesson plans, teaching materials, assignments, lab sessions / experiments (if lab facility available).

Conduct regular assessments — tests, assignments, practicals; evaluate student performance, provide feedback and guidance.

Provide remedial or extra support to students needing additional help (board exam prep, conceptual clarity, revisions).

Maintain class and (if applicable) lab records — attendance, academic progress, lab work, student performance.

Create and maintain a disciplined, supportive, inclusive, and encouraging classroom and lab environment.

(Preferred / Advantageous) Guide students preparing for competitive exams (e.g. entrance exams), offering additional classes or doubt‑clearing sessions, if school allows.

Collaborate with other teachers and school staff for academic planning, co‑curricular science activities (projects, experiments, science fairs), and overall school functioning.

Experience in coaching or preparing students for competitive exams (e.g. entrance exams, medical/engineering/other) would be considered a strong plus.

Ability to mentor and motivate students, especially those preparing for board and competitive exams — offering extra classes / doubt‑clearing / problem‑solving sessions.
