Role summary

The PGT English teacher will teach English Language and Literature to senior classes, focusing on grammar, comprehension, writing skills, literature analysis, and board exam preparation as per CGBSE/CBSE syllabus. The role emphasizes building communication confidence, reading habits, and analytical skills in a supportive learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Teach English to Classes IX–XII following CGBSE/CBSE curriculum, including grammar, prose, poetry, writing, and comprehension.
• Develop lesson plans, worksheets, question banks, sample papers, and practice exercises for board exams.
• Conduct regular assessments, unit tests, pre-boards; provide detailed feedback and progress reports to students/parents.
• Focus on spoken English, vocabulary building, essay/debate skills, and pronunciation through interactive activities.
• Identify and support weak students with remedial classes; challenge advanced learners with enrichment tasks.
• Use audio-visual aids, group discussions, and technology (where available) to make lessons engaging.
• Maintain attendance, marks registers, student portfolios, and required documentation for boards/school.
• Participate in PTMs, staff meetings, literary events, workshops, and exam duties.
• Guide students for Olympiads, elocution, debates, and competitive English exams.
• Promote reading culture through book recommendations, library sessions, and creative writing clubs.

Eligibility and qualifications

• Master’s degree in English (M.A. English or equivalent) from a recognized university.
• B.Ed. (preferred/mandatory as per board norms and management decision).
• Teaching experience in senior secondary English (CGBSE/CBSE) preferred; freshers with excellent command over language may apply.
• Fluency in spoken/written English; ability to teach in bilingual mode (English-Hindi) for diverse classrooms.
