Key Responsibilities:

  • Procurement Management:
  • Plan, source, and procure pharmaceuticals, surgical consumables, and ophthalmic products.
  • Identify and negotiate with suppliers to ensure cost-effective and quality procurement.
  • Maintain optimal inventory levels to avoid stock-outs or overstocking.
  • Vendor Management:
  • Develop and maintain relationships with pharmaceutical companies, distributors, and vendors.
  • Evaluate supplier performance and ensure adherence to contractual terms and service levels.
  • Conduct market analysis to identify new suppliers and competitive pricing.
  • Inventory & Supply Chain Control:
  • Coordinate with the pharmacy, OT, and stores for timely replenishment of drugs and materials.
  • Implement efficient inventory management systems to minimize wastage and expiry.
  • Ensure compliance with FIFO/FEFO principles.
  • Regulatory & Quality Compliance:
  • Ensure procurement processes comply with hospital policies, Drug Control regulations, and NABH/NABL standards.
  • Maintain records of purchase orders, licenses, and batch details for audit and traceability.
  • Liaise with the Quality Assurance team for product verification and complaint resolution.
  • Financial Oversight:
  • Prepare and manage the annual purchase budget for pharmaceuticals and consumables.
  • Track expenditure, analyze cost trends, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Verify supplier bills and coordinate with the finance department for timely payments.
  • Coordination & Reporting:
  • Work closely with clinical departments to forecast demand and understand product specifications.
  • Generate periodic reports on purchase status, consumption, and vendor performance.
  • Participate in hospital procurement committee meetings and policy formulation.
