Position: Pharmacist – Apollo Foundation Total Health​

Role summary

The Pharmacist will manage safe and compliant dispensing of medicines at Total Health centres and support community health initiatives in Apollo Foundation project locations. The role combines routine pharmacy operations with patient counselling and basic public‑health responsibilities in rural/low‑resource settings.​

Key responsibilities

  • Dispense prescription and OTC medicines accurately as per applicable laws and organisational protocols, ensuring correct dosage, strength, and instructions.​
  • Counsel patients on proper medication use, adherence, possible side‑effects, interactions, and storage; escalate complex cases to the medical officer.​
  • Maintain prescription records, billing, and inventory (stock levels, GRNs, expiry tracking, near‑expiry returns, and storage conditions including cold chain).​
  • Coordinate with project doctors, nurses, and community health workers to support treatment plans, chronic disease management (e.g., diabetes, hypertension), and public‑health campaigns.​
  • Promote rational drug use, antibiotic stewardship, and patient education on lifestyle, vaccination, and prevention, especially in village/outreach settings.​
  • Ensure compliance with Drug & Cosmetics Act, Pharmacy Act, Apollo/Total Health SOPs, and internal audit requirements.​
  • Support data reporting for projects (medicine utilisation, morbidity trends, stock consumption) and participate in health camps or outreach activities as required.​

Qualifications and skills

  • D.Pharm / B.Pharm (M.Pharm desirable) with valid PCI/State Pharmacy Council registration.​
  • 1 year(s) of experience in hospital, retail, or community pharmacy; exposure to rural/public‑health programmes will be an advantage.​
  • Strong knowledge of commonly used medicines, dosages, and basic pharmacology, with attention to detail and patient safety.​
  • Good communication skills in English and local language, empathy for underserved communities, and willingness to work in field conditions as part of a multidisciplinary team

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹11,000.00 - ₹12,000.00 per month
