Job Description

This role is responsible for filling prescriptions, preparing medicines, ordering/maintaining inventory, overseeing the work of our pharmacy technicians, externs and interns, reviewing and assisting with the pharmacy's different automations (DOSIS, Parata ATP2, and Pyxis ES). Our pharmacists also provide education regarding medications to medical and nursing staff. This job as a pharmacist will perform duties in an institutional setting for Correctional Health Services.

Essential Job Duties

  • A solid understanding of principles, theories, and practices of medicine.
  • A knowledge of agency objectives, organization, structure and mission.
  • An understanding of interactions and adverse reactions of drugs, medications and their dosage.
  • Consultation and/or expert knowledge

Supplemental Information

  • Risks which require the use of special safety precautions and/or equipment, e.g., working around operating machines, working with contagious diseases or hazardous chemicals, etc.
  • Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying light items; driving an automobile, etc. Special physical demands are not required to perform the work.
  • Licensure to practice pharmacy in the state of Utah.

Qualifications

Minimum or "day-one" qualifications:

  • Active Licensure to practice pharmacy in the state of Utah.
  • Pharmacist Controlled Substance License.
  • You also must have no disciplinary or restrictions on your license to be considered.
  • Previous experience.

Preferred Or Trainable/on-the-job Qualifications

  • Master's Degree or PharmD Degree
