We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Inpatient Pharmacist to join our Mental Health Service Line.The role includes patient counseling, medication safety, collaboration with clinical teams, and contribution to departmental quality initiatives. The pharmacist will also be responsible for reviewing, verifying, and dispensing medications for inpatient mental health patients in compliance with DOH, JCI, and hospital standards.
Responsibilities

Review, verify, and accurately dispense inpatient prescriptions, including psychiatric and psychotropic medications, in compliance with DOH, JCI, and hospital standards.

Provide clear and compassionate patient counseling, addressing medication use, dosing, precautions, potential side effects, and safe storage, with attention to mental health conditions and behavioral considerations.

Ensure timely dispensing to support optimal patient flow and meet departmental waiting-time targets, particularly for acute psychiatric admissions.

Identify and resolve therapeutic duplications, drug interactions, and adverse effects, with a focus on psychotropic drugs, mood stabilizers, antipsychotics, and anxiolytics.

Collaborate closely with psychiatrists, nurses, and multidisciplinary teams to optimize medication therapy and ensure safe, patient-centered care.

Support medication safety initiatives, including LASA (Look-Alike Sound-Alike) drug management, high-alert medications, and protocols specific to mental health medications.

Maintain accurate inventory control, monitor expiry dates, and ensure appropriate storage for temperature-sensitive psychiatric medications.

Document all interventions and clinical activities, contributing to quality improvement, medication safety audits, and performance monitoring.

Participate actively in department meetings, case reviews, ongoing professional training, and competency assessments, staying updated on mental health pharmacotherapy and evidence-based practices.
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy with valid DOH license.

Minimum 5 years of experience in an inpatient or hospital pharmacy setting.
