The Pharmacist is responsible for preparing, dispensing, and reviewing prescriptions to ensure accuracy, legality, and patient safety. They provide expert advice on the safe and effective use of medications, counsel patients on proper drug administration, monitor potential side effects, and ensure compliance with all regulatory and professional standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Dispense Medications: Accurately prepare and dispense prescribed medications while ensuring legal and clinical compliance.
- Patient Counseling: Provide patients with information about dosage, side effects, drug interactions, and storage.
- Medication Review: Evaluate prescriptions for accuracy, appropriateness, and potential drug interactions or contraindications.
- Inventory Management: Maintain proper stock levels, check expiry dates, and manage storage conditions for pharmaceuticals.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to pharmacy laws, ethical guidelines, and health regulations.
- Collaboration: Work closely with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient care and therapeutic outcomes.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate patient medication records and prepare reports as required.
- Health Promotion: Participate in community health programs, vaccination drives, or medication awareness campaigns.
- Continuing Education: Stay updated with new drug developments, pharmaceutical technology, and best practices.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Doctor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm / Pharm.D) degree from an accredited institution.
- Valid pharmacist license or registration in [state/country].
- Proven experience in a retail, hospital, or clinical pharmacy setting preferred.
- Strong knowledge of pharmacology, therapeutics, and drug legislation.
