Pharmacy Assistant

Duties

  • Assist pharmacists with medication preparation, including IV infusions and aseptic techniques to maintain sterile environments.
  • Manage medication intake and inventory control, ensuring accurate documentation and storage compliance.
  • Support patient service activities by providing clear information on medication usage and answering patient inquiries with professionalism.
  • Prepare and package medications accurately for distribution within hospital or LTC settings, adhering to strict safety protocols.
  • Maintain detailed records of medication administration, inventory levels, and pharmacy logs to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to facilitate smooth medication delivery and address any discrepancies or concerns promptly.
  • Uphold high standards of patient care by practicing excellent communication skills and demonstrating empathy during interactions.

Qualifications

  • Prior pharmacy technician experience or related medical background is highly preferred but will train.
  • Experience working in LTC pharmacy, critical care units, or acute care environments is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle medication administration accurately and efficiently.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team while maintaining a focus on patient safety and quality care.
