SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the System Director of Pharmacy Services, the Pharmacy Business Analyst is responsible for analyzing business data, systems, and processes to generate actionable information that supports leadership decision-making. The Pharmacy Business Analyst evaluates potential contracts, reviews current business arrangements and their financial impact on the organization and assists with the 340B program. This role supports the Inpatient, Retail, and Ambulatory Pharmacy settings.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Contributes to the preparation of 340B financial reporting.
- Assists the 340B Coordinator with high-level audits as needed, including accumulations and 340B pricing.
- Monitors and ensures accurate reconciliation for the 340B rebate program and the Medicare Maximum Fair Price program.
- Oversees accounts receivable collections by PioneerRx for all retail pharmacies and collaborates with PioneerRx, PSAO, and PBMs to resolve aging balances.
- Prepares and maintains financial and statistical analyses for retail pharmacy initiatives in HOPD clinics.
- Leads analytical efforts to identify and present cost-avoidance and cost-recovery opportunities.
- Supports internal and external audits as required.
- Prepares vendor return-on-investment (ROI) evaluations and request-for-proposal (RFP) analyses as needed.
- Monitors pricing and troubleshoots pricing issues with vendors.
- Assists and communicates with internal departments, including Revenue Cycle and Accounting, to support pharmacy business operations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Demonstrates the ability to perform tasks that meet the age-specific requirements of the persons, patients, vendors, and staff that the employee is charged to interact with as required by the position.
- Offers suggestions on ways to improve operations of department and reduce costs.
- Attends all mandatory education programs.
- Improves self-knowledge through voluntarily attending continuing education/certification classes.
- Maintains required competency levels as identified in written exams, skills checklists, skills labs, annual safety and health requirements as well as service excellence education hours requirements.
- Cross trains in order to better assist co-workers and to provide maximum efficiency in the department.
- Volunteers/participates on hospital committees, functions, and department projects.
- Manages resources effectively.
- Reports equipment in need of repair in order to extend the life of equipment and removes malfunctioning equipment out of service with timely reporting to the appropriate personnel.
- Makes good use of time so as to not create needless overtime.
EDUCATION:
Associates Degree
OTHER INFORMATION:
• Obtains 340B ACE certification within one year from the start of the role (required).
- Demonstrates knowledge of inpatient, retail, and ambulatory pharmacy operations (preferred).
- Possesses experience in 340B program management, pharmacy operations, and/or business analytics (preferred).
