Pharmacy Compounding Technician

The Non-Sterile Pharmacy Compounding Technician is responsible for preparing customized medications in accordance with prescribed formulas and quality standards under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist. This role involves accurately measuring, mixing, and packaging compounds while maintaining compliance with USP <795> and <800>, state regulations, and pharmacy protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare non-sterile compounded medications (e.g., creams, ointments, capsules, suspensions, troches) per formula sheets.
• Follow compounding procedures and ensure compliance with USP <795> <800> and pharmacy SOPs.
• Accurately weigh and measure ingredients using balances, cylinders, and other compounding equipment.
• Maintain proper labeling, documentation, and batch records for all compounds.
• Perform and document cleaning, calibration, and maintenance of equipment and lab areas.
• Follow strict hygiene and safety protocols to avoid cross-contamination.
• Manage inventory of bulk chemicals, excipients, and compounding supplies.
• Support pharmacists with quality assurance and final product checks.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date compounding logs and temperature logs.
• Package and label finished medications for dispensing.
• Participate in staff training and continuous improvement efforts.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Current Pharmacy Technician license
• Experience with compounding preferred but not required - training available
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise instructions.
• Basic computer and data entry skills.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
