Job Summary

The Hospital Pharmacy In-Charge is responsible for managing the overall operations of the hospital pharmacy, ensuring safe, accurate, and timely dispensing of medications to inpatients and outpatients. The role involves compliance with hospital policies, regulatory standards, inventory control, staff supervision, and collaboration with medical and nursing teams to support high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations of the hospital pharmacy (IPD & OPD)
  • Ensure accurate dispensing of medications as per prescriptions and hospital protocols
  • Maintain compliance with hospital policies, NABH/other regulatory standards, and pharmacy laws
  • Supervise, schedule, and train pharmacists and pharmacy technicians
  • Manage procurement, storage, and inventory of medicines and consumables
  • Monitor expiry dates, controlled drugs, and emergency medicines
  • Participate in medication safety programs and clinical rounds when required
  • Provide drug information and support to doctors, nurses, and healthcare staff
  • Ensure proper documentation, record keeping, and reporting
  • Handle audits, inspections, and quality improvement initiatives
  • Ensure pharmacy cleanliness, safety, and infection control practices
  • Address medication-related issues and patient queries professionally

Qualifications & Requirements

  • B.Pharm / M.Pharm / Pharm.D from a recognized institution
  • Valid State Pharmacy Council registration
  • Experience in a hospital pharmacy setting is mandatory
  • Knowledge of hospital pharmacy operations, drug protocols, and formulary management
  • Familiarity with HIS, pharmacy software, and billing systems
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of NABH/JCI standards (preferred)

Experience

  • 2–5 years of experience in hospital pharmacy operations
  • Prior experience as Pharmacy In-Charge or Senior Pharmacist preferred
