This position oversees the development, implementation and monitoring of Emergency Management pharmacy services across Adult and Pediatric services lines as well as Clinic Requisition Services. This position is responsible for the daily activities of two 24/7/365 Emergency Department pharmacy satellites (adult and peds), servicing approximately 100,000 ED admissions annually. This position will promote the safe, rational, efficacious and cost-effective use of drug therapy in patients under our care, provide leadership for clinical services, develop quality improvement processes and oversee clinical training of staff, residents and students. This position is also responsible for the day-to-day operations of our clinic requisition service comprised of more than 400 onsite/offsite clinics and research laboratories. This position works with representatives from ambulatory clinics related to product issues and drug ordering processes, including influenza and Covid vaccine procurement. UM Health Pharmacy Services actively participates with vendors in enhancement and introductory projects with new software before it is generally released for purchase. Our clinic requisition service uses a platform which needs continual updating and enhancements. This position is actively involved in those engagements.
Keys to success for this position include fostering a culture of teamwork, collaboration, exceptional personnel management skills, and clinical and distribution system thinking. This position serves as pharmacy administrator on-call on a rotating basis. Approximately 10% of staffing is required based on the team's scheduling needs. Excellent written and verbal skills are also required. Management experience, and previous residency training are highly desired.

Establish work schedules, training and staffing requirements.
Ensure all related quality assurance, billing and distribution activities are performed and documented
Assure compliance with Pharmacy and regulatory agency standards
Interview and recommend the employment of staff
Perform necessary human resource related functions for direct reports.
Evaluate the effectiveness of section operations and recommend organizational changes, policy and procedures and revisions
Assist in the development and implementation of new methods, techniques, controls and equipment
Resolve problems and complaints raised by physicians, and staff, with authority to make commitments within established policies.
Instruct Residents, students and House staff
Assure compliance with affirmative action and safety programs
Assist in the development and implementation of new pharmacy services to support the Michigan Medicine's goals and objectives
Education
Pharmacists serve as preceptors for Doctor of Pharmacy students on a variety of practice experiences including Introductory Pharmacy Patient Experiences (IPPEs) and Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences (APPEs), and may provide didactic education for pharmacy students
Pharmacists serve as preceptors for pharmacy residents
Research
May conduct or participate in research, drug use projects, cost reduction/management initiatives, and quality improvement activities consistent with Michigan Medicine's goals and objectives.

Exempt leader schedule generally weekdays dayshift responsibilities with occasional weekends and late evening hours as needed.
This position will oversee team members at C.S. Mott Children's and Von Voigtlander Women's Hospitals on Michigan Medicine's main academic medical center campus.
Must comply with all Michigan Medicine Occupational Health requirements including annual flu immunization.
