Missouri Baptist Medical Center
, an acute care hospital in St. Louis County, offers a full continuum of medical and surgical services, including heart care, cancer, women and infants, breast health, gastrointestinal, orthopedic, stroke, therapy, wound and pain management services. The hospital has a 24-hour adult emergency department and cares for pediatric patients at a separate emergency department in collaboration with St. Louis Children’s Hospital.


Missouri Baptist is the first and only hospital in St. Louis County to be named a Magnet® hospital by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). The prestigious designation is the highest credential a health care organization can receive for nursing excellence and quality patient care. This recognition has been accomplished by less than nine percent of hospitals nationwide. Additionally, U.S. News & World Report ranked the hospital #2 in the St. Louis metro area.


The Inpatient Pharmacy at Missouri Baptist Medical Center consists of a Central Pharmacy including a Class 10,000 Clean Room for sterile product preparation and satellite pharmacies in the Operating Room, the Cancer/Infusion Center, and satellites or decentralized pharmacists on several inpatient floors. The hospital uses Pyxis Connect digital order imaging, medication bar coding, an electronic medication administration record, and Alaris Guardrails ''smart'' IV pumps. The department utilizes Pyxis medstations for distribution of 90% of medication. The Pharmacy program at MoBap also administers an ASHP-accredited pharmacy practice residency program.



Preferred Qualifications


Role Purpose

Promotes safe and effective medication use by participation in patient care and performance improvement programs under supervision of residency preceptors. Rotates through an individualized one-year program of education and training designed to develop the resident's knowledge and skills in contemporary pharmacy practice.


Responsibilities

  • Promotes optimal patient outcomes of drug therapy by supervised provision of pharmaceutical care.
  • Teaches and provides drug information to pharmacy personnel, physicians, patients and other health-care professionals.
  • Participates in professional development and assigned training activities.
  • Contributes to performance improvement, clinical effectiveness, drug use evaluation, and committee activities, under supervision of pharmacy preceptors.
