Pharmacy Technician

What You’ll Do:

  • Inventory and Maintenance:
    • Place and receive orders for medications and supplies, verifying that all medications are barcoded and linked to the information system
    • Restock all areas of the hospital where medications are kept
    • Remove outdated medication from stock
    • Reconcile return medication reports from the distribution cabinets
  • Medication Preparation and Distribution:
    • Repackage medications for dispensing, ensuring all medications have a barcode that can be scanned, appropriate expiration date is assigned, and all labels are complete and correct
    • Perform preparation of non-parenteral medications, including measuring, pouring, and reconstitution
    • Pull medication stock to be distributed, ensuring it is checked by a pharmacist or a certified pharmacy technician prior to delivery
    • Prepare stock for the departments/practices, and deliver stock for the Automated Distribution Cabinets and Emergency Medical Services
  • Regulations and Safety:
    • Assist in maintaining and reconciling records and inventory
    • Inspect, clean, and maintain medication storage areas
    • Comply with all requirements to maintain NH registration and certification as a pharmacy technician. NH registered technicians who are not certified are actively training to become a certified pharmacy technician
  • Billing and Customer Service
    • Review and process daily pharmacy and patient charges, notifying pharmacist if errors or discrepancies occur
    • Work with pharmacy volunteers, answer phone calls, and assist co-workers and hospital customers

What We’re Looking For:

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, or be working to achieve a high school or equivalent diploma
  • Ability to read, write, hear, and verbally communicate in English to the degree necessary to perform the job
  • Current NH license as a Pharmacy Technician
  • Detail oriented
  • Able to work in emergency situations
  • Possess the ability to be self-directed and prioritize tasks
  • Computer literacy
  • Good interpersonal skills and able to communicate clearly

Preferred:

  • Six months to one year experience as a pharmacy technician
  • Experience in a hospital environment preferred
  • Successful completion of a Certification Exam as a Pharmacy Technician
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical and medical terminology desired
